Penerbit USM Journals Breaking into Q1/Q2 Quartiles

Penerbit USM journals have made a major stride in quartile positioning in the Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus databases.

In the latest Journal Citation Reports by Web of Science (acquired by Clarivate Analytics from Thompson Reuters in 2016), the Bulletin of the Malaysian Mathematical Sciences Society moved from Quartile 2 (Q2) to Q1, with its Journal Impact Factor climbing to 1.554.

The Journal Impact Factor of an academic journal is an index that analyses the citations (and the citation rate performance) of a WoS-indexed journal.

The Bulletin is published jointly by Springer, Penerbit USM and the Malaysian Mathematical Sciences Society.

Several USM journals in the Scopus database have also made a significant gain.

Kajian Malaysia leads the way with Q1 positioning in History and Q2 in Cultural Studies.

Four other Penerbit USM journals entered the Scopus' Q2.

These are the Archives of Orofacial Sciences (Orthodontics), International Journal of Asia Pacific Studies (Cultural studies), Tropical Life Sciences Research (Agricultural and Biological Sciences) and Wacana Seni Journal of Arts Discourse (Visual Arts and Performing Arts).

Penerbit USM publishes seventeen journals.

The Director of Penerbit USM has expressed his gratitude to the team and is now considering treating everyone KFC when the nationwide Movement Control Order (MCO) ends.
